As part of The Casino Food Co-Op Casino Beef Week, DPI will host a visit for school students and teachers participating in the school cattle events to the Wollongbar Primary Industries Institute.
The Regional Industry Education Partnerships program (RIEP) will fund buses to transport the students at zero-cost to further promote future career pathways and help develop the skills of the future generation in agriculture.
As part of the day students will tour components of the Wollongbar site that showcase commercial cattle operations and cattle management within the Farm Operations team. They will be provided an overview of the history, purpose and structure of the Department of Primary Industries. Students will also meet with a range of expert speakers representing Cattle research, Local Land Services, LLS District Veterinarian and Cattle Tick Bio-security teams.

The DPI staff will also present the background and showcase the current cattle research projects on-site which include the Southern Multi-breed Genetics Trials and the current Cattle Drench and Multi-min Heifer Trials. A range of technologies and resources will be employed by the cattle team and researchers on the day.
Another highlight of the day will be the presentation of the DPI and The Casino Food Co-Op traineeships programs and the DPI work experience, work placement and excursion programs.
